We bisque fire at 1000 deg centigrade and glaze fire at 1220 deg centigrade. We do not accept pieces that are taller than 10 inches in height/width and plates regardless of the size. Please note that Starting July 2024, we will be firing at CONE 5.

Price:

Bisque firing per 1kg: $15+ GST
Glaze firing per 1 kg: $20+ GST

Drop Off Time: You can drop off your work at Pottery Capital on a Saturday between 10am-1pm.

Things to Know Before You Come:

1. Pottery Type: Please make sure that the pieces you are bringing are made with studio clay. If you are using non-studio clay, you must provide proof of purchase for the clay.

2. Cone Reference: For both the clay and glazes you intend to use, you need to provide the exact cone reference. The cone reference is a standardized measurement used in ceramics to specify the firing temperature. It is essential to ensure that your pieces are fired correctly and to avoid any damages to the pottery during the firing process.

3. Firing Policy: Pottery Capital will not fire your pieces if you do not provide the required cone reference for your clay and glazes. This policy is in place to maintain the quality and safety of the firing process.

Please ensure that you have taken care of the necessary requirements before bringing in your pottery for firing at Pottery Capital | Botpots Christchurch. If you have any questions or need further clarification, don't hesitate to reach out to the studio for assistance.

The Pottery has firing services for pottery that you have made at home. Price will be quoted after filling out the form or in-store. You are welcome to come back and glaze your work or we can also glaze it for you at a cost. All firings must be paid prior.

Price will include bisque and glaze firing. Firing does not include underglaze/glaze. Eftpos available.

Please note that all items must be approved prior to firing. Please include the clay firing temperture of clay in degrees centigrade.

Please drop them off once they are bone dried and also fill out the form below. We will send you an SMS for pick up.

The studio does not have the capacity to store pieces for an extended period of time. Work not picked up after 30 days (1 month) after bisque/glaze firing will be discarded.

The studio will not fire underglazed greenware. Your pieces must have been bisque fired before being underglazed.

Payment must be made at drop off and there is no refund available for breakage, cracking, explosion or imperfect firing of any kind.

All outside clay and glazes must be verified before firings are done in our kiln. Proof of firing temperature can be a receipt, a photo of the clay box or glaze jar labels, or information directly from the manufacturer.((Meltdown damage to our kilns because of faulty information or over application of glazes will be charged to the customer)

Please, come prepared with the list of items you are dropping off.

Please do not send us a message if your item is has been fired yet. We will fire once kiln is full and there is no ETA for that. We will send you a message when it is ready for pick up.

SIGN THE BOTTOM OF YOUR WORK. Because we must be able to easily identify your work, all work must be signed.

POTTERY CAPITAL is not to be hold responsible for a piece cracking, breaking, blistering, exploding or any other type of unsatisfactory result.
