Where are you located?
Pottery Capital is located at 121 Brighton Mall,The Barn,Shop 7,New Brighton. 121 The Barn in right next to Shoreline 24/7 Gym, Shoreline Gym is in front of Ray White. Parking and back entrance is also available along Beresford Street.
What should I wear for Handbuilding/Pottery Wheel Throwing Class?
Avoid wearing rings, long sleeves, and should pull back long hair. Having short nails is recommended to avoid difficulty in smoothening creations and prevent cracks.Short nails is a must when throwing on the wheel.
Will I pick up my pieces the way I left it?
Pottery making is volatile, and there are variables that can affect the outcome of pieces. The studio does not guarantee that pottery will make it back to participants the way they left it. Breakages, explosions, glaze running, and cracks can happen. Participants should accept these variables as part of the learning process and understand that the studio will not refund, credit, or replace any affected pottery.

Can I reschedule my class?
No-shows or cancelations will not receive makeup or rescheduling options. The studio plans and prepares for each class, holding spots for registered participants.
What is the minimum requirement for the class to carry?
The studio reserves the right to cancel a class if the minimum enrollment of 4 students is not met. In such cases, all class/workshop fees will be fully refunded.
What is the option for Wheel Rental and Pottery Membership if I am enrolled in one of the pottery wheel class?
Enrolled students have the option to rent a wheel for a minimum of 6 weeks and must be returned on the last day of the class. Payment will be via bank transfer only every Fridays at 10am for 6 weeks duration. Cost is $50 per week.
When can I pick up my Ceramic?
Pottery pieces will be ready for pickup in approximately 4-6 weeks after firing. All completed course work must be picked up no later than 4 weeks after a student's final class.If ceramic is not picked up after sending an SMS pick up, studio does not have the space to store pieces and student works will be discarded. No exceptions.
Can I re-enroll after taking pottery wheel class?
We recommend enrolling for 3 more beginners class prior to progressing. Repeating courses allows for practice and improvement, as well as benefiting from the class dynamic and community support. You can also become a studio member too.
What is the Cancellation Policy?
The studio does not accept cancellations for all classes, regardless of the reason. Refunds are not granted, including private classes.
Can I rebook a class if I am able to attend the original date?
Yes you can and there is a non negotiable admin fee of $25 per person.
I am Pregnant can I still enrol a Pottery Class?
Yes. However, if you are pregnant you should wear and bring your own medical grade gloves during the entire duration of the class.
What are the Payment Options?
Payment can be made via bank transfer or in-store using eftpos. Credit/debit card payment is enabled and Afterpay is offered. But if you do not have the $$$ right now, please email us pottery@potterycapital.com and we can arrange a payment plan. No one has to know.
Do you offer Firing Services?
Yes We do. Please check info here. We fire at Cone 6.
Group Events and Parties?
The studio hosts parties, hens, birthdays, team building events, and private groups, requiring a minimum of 6 participants for special group events. We offer party pack for rental too. Please message us for more info.
Do you offer a fund raising event at your studio?
If you have an upcoming event, come in and talk to us. We are happy to help. Sign up to 20 people for a reserved event at $95 per person and we will donate 40% of it to you! You get $38 for every guest. BYOB! Handbuilding, an hour and 30 minutes on the wheel , and loads of laughs!
Are there refunds for creations that exploded in the kiln?
The studio does not offer refunds if creations explode in the kiln, as it is beyond their control and can happen even with precautionary measures.
What is the minimum age requirement for the pottery wheel class?
The minimum age to attend classes is 13+.
Is your space available for film, TV and commercial shoots?
Sure! If you would like to rent our studio for your shoot, please send an email to pottery@potterycapital.com to discuss rates and availability.
Do you sell pottery?
We do! We have a special section in our studio where you will find beautiful pieces all handmade from local potters in Christchurch on display and available to buy. We will be hosting open house events in the near future, so stay tuned and make sure you are signed up for our newsletter!
